Maria Costa, M.S., CCC-SLP is a native of Monterey, California. From a young age, Maria always knew she wanted to help people. She fell in love with the field of speech and language pathology, earning her degree from the University of the Pacific. She completed her clinical fellowship at the Central Coast Language and Learning Center. She is ASHA certified and has been a practicing therapist for 4 years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, and going to the beach.
Maria has worked with both pediatric and adult populations, but her true passion is working with school-age children. She has had the most experience working in the public school and private practice settings. More recently, she has ventured into the world of teletherapy, which affords her the opportunity to provide individualized and quality services to individuals who might not otherwise have access. She enjoys working in private practice and telepractice the most as it gives her the opportunity to counsel and educate family members, which she believes is a critical component in the therapy process. Her undergraduate course work in psychology proves to be especially useful in helping her to better relate to her clients and their families and to motivate them to invest in the therapy process. Areas of particular interest include language based learning disabilities, speech sound disorders, and aural rehabilitation.
