Elana is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 20 years of experience in a variety of settings, who enjoys working full time in Telepractice. At this time, she serves two different companies as an independent contractor. She loves to see the smiling faces of her students as they accomplish a new communication task! And to hear the parents of her home schooled children carrying over her therapy techniques and celebrating together. What an awesome opportunity to partner with their most important teacher! Elana’s passion is loving and teaching people with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum, to enjoy communicating more functionally and effectively. She also likes the detailed work involved in editing and proofreading. With over 30 years of editorial work, she finds satisfaction in helping others to produce a high-quality product. Currently, she edits for a prayer ministry which disseminates uplifting messages on Facebook.
As a pastor’s wife, she enjoys volunteering in leadership positions at their United Methodist church, which include singing in the praise band. For years, she and her daughter Emily Joy sang together in worship. Now that the nest is empty, she has opportunities to hear Emily sing at college! Elana is also glad to be a part of the Chorale in her small Iowa city. And happy to live in Iowa, after growing up in the Bronx. She came to Iowa to study at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, and earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 1991. Life appears to be a series of adventures; the best part of telepractice is being able to take the job anywhere!
