A self-proclaimed "education junkie," Andrea has spent more years of her life in school than out - not only as a student, but also as a teacher, administrator, and now a School Counselor. After completing a Bachelor's degree in Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Utah in 2006, she threw herself into teaching and administrative work for a Salt Lake City private school. In 2014, she completed a Master's Degree in School Counseling online through Capella University. Since that time, she has worked with high school students online, providing academic, college/career, and social/emotional counseling and skills training. As a veteran of online learning, Andrea is excited to be a part of the Global Teletherapy team: "I absolutely love working with students in the online environment. Barriers such as geography, bell schedules and preconceived stereotypes can be so much easier to work around, and I find that I'm able to really get to know my students and their needs much more quickly."
In an effort to live up to her last name, Ms. Journey packs as much learning, growth and movement into each stage of her life as possible. Alongside intensive academic study and full-time teaching and counseling, Andrea has been blessed with the love and support of a wonderful husband, the intrepid enthusiasm of an amazing child, and the undying loyalty of two Beagle mixes. She has visited 20 U.S. states and six countries outside the U.S., and she relishes each captivating experience in her current hometown of Portland, Oregon. In her rare and precious spare time, Andrea loves music, creative cooking; hiking, camping and swimming; and always a good cup of coffee.
