The Mental Health Waves from the Crisis: Is it a Tsunami or a Ripple?

The psychological fallout from COVID-19 is as yet unclear, but mental health experts are forecasting a tsunami of new disorders. The World Health Organization warned in May 2020 of “a massive increase in mental health conditions in the coming months,” wrought by anxiety and isolation.

Therapist of the Month

Maureen Dykinga

Maureen Dykinga is our therapist of the month for September! Congrats Maureen! Recently she acquired a per diem position at one of our new schools, AZDL.  She has been handling her new position with patience, efficiency, a good amount of collaboration with us, and with the school. She is a 5-star therapist in her last two observations.

Here’s a little more about Maureen:

Maureen has been a speech-language pathologist for 20 years.

Before joining Global Teletherapy, she ran a private practice and conducted trainings around the globe, on feeding infants/children safely and promoting communication and cognitive development. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in public health and loves the flexibility of providing quality services via teletherapy. Maureen and her husband live in Tucson, Arizona, and love to spoil their pets.

School of the Month

Congratulations to California Connections Academy, our school of the month for September! The staff are wonderful to work with; they are prompt and responsive. They serve a large group of students with diverse needs, and they work to meet these needs on an individual basis. Also, their staff is knowledgeable and supportive of students and families. They have high standards when considering how to best educate students in the virtual school setting.

Here’s a little bit about California Connections Academy:

California Connections Academy is more than a network of tuition-free TK–12 online public schools available for students throughout California. It’s also a tight-knit online school community offering you an award-winning curriculum, credentialed teachers, and opportunities for parent involvement.
