School Administrators: Your Compact Resource Guide to Alleviate Stress

In early May, when what seemed like the worst of the pandemic was behind us, the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (YCEI), in collaboration with the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA) in New York City, surveyed to understand how urban school leaders were feeling during the COVID-19 crisis.

Over 1,000 principals, assistant principals, and district-level supervisors from New York—then the epicenter of the outbreak in the United States—participated. Leaders were asked to share the primary emotions they had experienced the most during the prior two weeks of such turmoil.

Therapist of the Month

Mireya Escalante Torres

Mireya joined GT last school year and started with a counseling caseload. She was the first Mental Health School Pysch therapist trained in virtual psych assessment and is successfully completing virtual assessments for CAVA. She is always providing new resources and ideas to help advance our department. She also was one of our first guests on SPEDtalk Season 1.

Here’s a little more about Mireya:

My name is Mireya Escalante Torres and I’m from Southern California.  I enjoy reading, writing, and yoga.  I’m a full-time School Psychologist and a parent to 3 wonderful adult children.  Before joining GT, I was a Therapeutic Behavioral Coach for TBS, a Behavior Specialist, and I even spent time managing a theater! It’s been an amazing journey of learning, growing, and refining my job skills. I’m committed to making a difference and grateful to be part of such an amazing company that allows me to grow and continue to do what I enjoy most, making a difference one student at a time!

School of the Month

Congratulations to The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School for being awarded November School of the Month! We have had such a positive experience working with PA Cyber thus far. Staff personnel are friendly and very responsive in attending to students’ needs. It is apparent that the PA Cyber team is devoted to supporting students as well as staff. We have also heard positive feedback about the support and organization of PA Cyber from the parents/guardians of our students.

Here’s a little more about PA Cyber:

Serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade, the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School (PA Cyber) is one of the largest, most experienced, and most successful online public schools in the nation. PA Cyber’s online learning environments, personalized instructional methods, and choices of curricula connect Pennsylvania students and their families with state-certified and highly-qualified teachers, and rich academic content that is aligned to state standards. Founded in 2000, PA Cyber is headquartered in Midland (Beaver County) and maintains a network of support offices throughout the state.
